Prince George to join Eton as school prepares to appoint new headmaster
Prince George, the 12‑year‑old son of Prince William, will begin studying at Eton College in Berkshire this September, following in the footsteps of his father and uncle. The elite boarding school is also set to name a new headmaster after Simon Henderson announced he will step down next year. Alastair Chirnside, currently warden of St Edward’s School in Oxford and a former Eton King’s Scholar, is the leading candidate. Chirnside previously taught at Eton, served as head of Year 11, Head of Classics and house master before moving to Harrow and then St Edward’s. Eton educates around 1,350 pupils and charges annual fees of £63,300. The upcoming headmaster appointment will be announced within weeks, coinciding with Prince George’s enrolment.
