Prince George's County pushes forward transit village and National Harbor Sphere plans

Maryland Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller and Prince George's County Executive Aisha Braveboy announced a joint 100‑acre transit‑oriented development around the Bowie MARC Station. The project, overseen by Mosaic Development Partners and the county's BSU MARCH Community Partners, will include about 400 housing units plus retail, office and innovation spaces, aiming to improve access to jobs, education and healthcare. Miller emphasized that “transportation‑oriented development is about access – access to jobs, education, healthcare and the opportunities that help people build better lives.”

Separately, the Prince George's County Council is set to vote on establishing a financing framework for a smaller version of the Sphere entertainment venue at National Harbor. The measure would create a special taxing district to allocate future tax revenue toward the project, part of an overall $200 million incentive package. Council members voiced concerns about potential debt, traffic near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and lighting impacts, but the vote does not approve construction, only the financing structure.
