Prince Harry addresses NATO on military transition and identity

Prince Harry addressed the NATO Military Committee via video conference in Brussels, reflecting on his decade of service in the British Army from 2005 to 2015, which included two tours in Afghanistan.

During his address, the Duke of Sussex shared that leaving the military caused him to lose “part of [his] purpose and identity.” He highlighted the difficulties many service members face when transitioning to civilian life and noted a lack of resources for those returning home.

He also discussed the role of the Invictus Games, an international sporting event he founded in 2014 for wounded, injured, and sick service members and veterans. Harry emphasized that the games serve as a means for veterans to regain self-confidence, orientation, and a sense of connection to society, rather than being just a sporting competition.
