The property is said to be undergoing interior renovations by designers from the Soho House members' club. While the couple have not confirmed the purchase, analysts note that Portugal’s housing market has risen sharply, with an 18 % annual price increase reported for 2024, making the acquisition a potentially savvy investment. The villa could also qualify the Sussexes for Portugal’s Golden Visa programme, which grants travel freedom across the EU.

The purchase follows a private audience with King Charles and Queen Camilla earlier in the month and has fueled speculation about the Sussexes’ financial standing and future plans.
