Prince Harry delays UK visit over security concerns for his children

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been planning a July trip to the United Kingdom, timed with events counting down to the Invictus Games 2027 in Birmingham. The visit would allow their children, seven‑year‑old Archie and five‑year‑old Lilibet, to see their grandfather, King Charles, for the first time since a 2022 royal tour.

The trip is in doubt because British authorities have refused to provide additional police protection funded by public money. Harry says the safety of his children is “an absolute priority,” and the lack of guaranteed security has led him to reconsider travelling to the UK. The couple are currently on holiday in Europe with a private security team, and have been offered a royal residence with private guard, while Harry’s own security costs run at roughly €3 million a year.

Harry continues to seek a solution that would allow his family to visit safely, but no definitive plans have been confirmed.
