Prince Harry plans UK return for Invictus Games promotion, faces security hurdle and no William meeting

Prince Harry is preparing a trip to England in July to promote the Invictus Games, which will be staged in Birmingham in 2027. He hopes to bring wife Meghan Markle and their children, Archie (7) and Lilibet (5), so the kids can spend time with their grandfather, King Charles.

The prince’s return is complicated by an ongoing dispute with the UK government over armed police protection for his family. After losing a legal challenge, Harry told the BBC, “I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point.” Although some sources say the Home Office may soon approve security, no official confirmation has been given.

Harry also remains estranged from his brother, Prince William. Sources say there is “no chance” Harry will meet William on this trip, a rift that traces back to the memoir Spare. He was not invited to cousin Peter Phillips’s wedding and has not seen William since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022. Despite the family tensions, Harry says he wants reconciliation with the royal family and to give his children a stronger connection to the United Kingdom.
