Prince Harry Faces Up to £18 million Legal Bill After Losing Daily Mail Case
Prince Harry has lost his lawsuit against Associated Newspapers, the publisher of the Daily Mail, after the UK High Court dismissed all claims that the newspaper used illegal methods to obtain private information. The court now requires the claimants, including Harry, to cover the publisher’s legal expenses, which could total up to $45.8 million (about £18 million).
A decision on an advance payment is expected in the coming weeks, with the publisher seeking an initial £10 million advance and the final amount potentially reaching £18 million. Other high‑profile claimants such as Elton John, Elizabeth Hurley and Doreen Lawrence are also liable for a share of the costs. Reports suggest the financial burden could push Harry toward bankruptcy if insurance coverage proves insufficient.
