Prince Harry reflects on final phone call with Princess Diana
Prince Harry has expressed ongoing regret regarding his final telephone conversation with his mother, Princess Diana, nearly 30 years after her death in 1997. In an interview with GQ, the Duke of Sussex stated that if he had known it was their last call, the conversation would have been significantly different.
Recalling the moment from when he was 12 years old, Harry noted that he was primarily focused on returning to play with his cousins. He shared that becoming a parent to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet has provided him with a new perspective on the event, though the guilt remained heavy for much of his life.
Prince William has also previously spoken about the impact of that final interaction. In the 2017 documentary ‘Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy’, the Prince of Wales recalled how he and Harry were in a rush to say goodbye, noting that the memory of that brief conversation remains with him.
