Prince Harry retains Duke of Sussex and other royal titles

Prince Harry retains several official titles despite stepping away from active royal duties. He remains the Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton, and Baron Kilkeel, as well as Prince Harry. While he holds these titles, a 2020 agreement restricts his active use of the 'His Royal Highness' (HRH) prefix.

His departure from the royal work calendar involved returning honorary military appointments and royal patronages. While the current arrangement limits the use of HRH, a new agreement with the monarch could theoretically change his level of participation in royal life.

Throughout his life, the Duke of Sussex has faced various public controversies, including a period of rehabilitation for cannabis use as a teenager and backlash for wearing a Nazi uniform to a costume party in 2005. He has addressed many of these experiences in his memoir, 'Spare'.
