Prince Harry warns of AI risks during New York appearance

Prince Harry made a high-profile appearance in New York City this week, attending the Clinton Global Initiative and the Skift Global Forum. During his address at the Clinton Global Initiative, the Duke of Sussex issued a warning regarding the dangers of artificial intelligence, particularly its potential to create emotional dependencies in children. He described AI as the ‘ultimate sycophant’ that seeks attachment rather than just attention, urging tech companies to prioritize safety and accountability over rapid advancement.

His speech was briefly interrupted by a technical malfunction when his teleprompter failed approximately seven minutes into his remarks. After exiting the stage, Harry returned roughly 40 minutes later to finish his presentation, joking to the audience that ‘AI got into my speech.’

In addition to his AI advocacy, Harry participated in several other engagements, including an appearance at a Diana Award event and a discussion on sustainable tourism at the Skift Global Forum, where he reflected on his family's history and his connection to Botswana.
