Prince Hisahito prepares breakfast at Hiroshima scout jamboree

Prince Hisahito, the 19‑year‑old son of Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko, spent the night in a tent he set up himself at the Nippon Scout Jamboree in Jinsekikogen, Hiroshima Prefecture. At about 6:30 a.m. on Saturday he joined other scouts in preparing breakfast, cutting white radishes and carrots for pork miso soup and helping stir the vegetables. He also took part in cutting a log with a saw and playing a scouting game.

Earlier in the two‑day visit, the prince visited Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, laid flowers at the atomic‑bomb victims’ cenotaph, and toured the Hiroshima Prefectural Museum of History. The trip marks his first solo official duties outside Tokyo without other Imperial Family members.
