Prince Hisahito turns 20 amid Japan's succession rule revisions
Prince Hisahito, the nephew of Emperor Naruhito and second in line to the Chrysanthemum Throne, turned 20 on Sunday. A sophomore majoring in biology at the University of Tsukuba, the prince has begun taking on official duties, including attending palace banquets and participating in community events like boy scout activities.
His milestone comes amid significant political debate regarding Japan's Imperial House Law. A recent revision to the law, supported by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, reinforces male-only succession rules.
