Prince Rahim Aga Khan V begins maiden visit to India
Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, the 50th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and Chair of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), has arrived in India for a week-long maiden visit. Following an invitation from Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, the visit aims to review and strengthen cooperation between India and the AKDN in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, rural development, education, and heritage preservation.
During his stay in New Delhi, Prince Rahim has held meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Radhakrishnan, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and Home Minister Amit Shah. Discussions focused on enhancing partnerships in women's empowerment, youth development, and social stability. The leaders also emphasized the importance of dialogue in promoting peace and prosperity.
Following his engagements in the capital, Prince Rahim is scheduled to travel to Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Hyderabad to inspect various community and development projects managed by the AKDN.
