Prince Rahim Aga Khan V visits India to discuss development

Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and the 50th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, has arrived at Maharashtra Lok Bhavan in Mumbai to meet with Governor Jishnu Dev Varma.

Prior to his arrival in Mumbai, the Prince held a courtesy visit with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The discussions focused on potential grassroots-level collaboration between the AKDN and the state government to support holistic and sustainable development.

Key areas of interest during the meetings included environmental conservation, climate change mitigation, education, skill development, and entrepreneurship. The Chief Minister noted that the AKDN’s focus on empowering vulnerable communities aligns with Gujarat’s development philosophy, specifically highlighting the state’s efforts in water conservation, rainwater harvesting, and the promotion of natural farming and millets.
