Prince Sverre Magnus moves up in Norwegian succession

Following the death of King Harald V at age 89, Prince Sverre Magnus has moved to second in the Norwegian line of succession, positioned behind his sister, Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra.

While Sverre Magnus has not received a new official title or role following the transition of power to King Haakon VIII, royal experts suggest his public presence and importance to the monarchy may increase. This potential shift is attributed to his growing involvement in official duties and the health challenges facing Queen Mette-Marit, who has faced issues following a lung transplant.

Although his formal status remains unchanged, observers note that the 20-year-old is increasingly appearing at public events, both independently and alongside family members, potentially serving as a vital support to the royal house.
