Prince William and Catherine's travel protocols revealed by former flight attendant

Former British Airways flight attendant Helena Ford has shared insights regarding the travel protocols of Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, during an appearance on the ‘Private Parts’ podcast.

According to Ford, the royal couple typically travels in business class rather than first class on commercial flights, even when first class is available. To maintain privacy and security, the couple often uses pseudonyms and wears casual clothing to avoid drawing attention from other passengers. Their security detail frequently travels alongside them in civilian attire to blend in with the general public.

Additional royal travel traditions include the protocol that two heirs to the throne should not fly on the same aircraft to ensure the continuity of the monarchy in the event of an accident. Furthermore, members of the royal family are expected to carry black mourning attire with them during travel, a custom established following the death of King George VI in 1952.
