Prince William and Kate Middleton built relationship on early friendship

Royal author Ingrid Seward has shared insights into the early relationship between Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, noting that their strong foundation was built on a close friendship prior to their romantic involvement.

Speaking on the ‘A Right Royal Podcast’, Seward detailed how the pair met while studying at the University of St Andrews. She described Kate as a trusted adviser to William during their student years. One specific instance mentioned involved William visiting Kate’s family home in Bucklebury, where the two had long discussions at a local pub.

Seward noted that Kate encouraged William to reconsider his academic path, suggesting he switch from Art History to Geography. William did eventually change his major to Geography during his second year of university. The author suggests this period of mutual support and friendship helped establish the lasting connection seen in their marriage.
