Prince William and Kate Middleton favor Mustique Island for private royal getaways

Prince William and Kate Middleton have repeatedly chosen the Caribbean island of Mustique for family vacations, valuing its seclusion over more high‑profile destinations. Their first visit in 2019 marked the celebration of their eldest son Prince George’s sixth birthday, staying in a luxury villa that cost more than €30,000 per week. The family has returned several times, most recently in February 2025, and typically spends the holidays there with their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Mustique offers absolute privacy, including a temporary no‑fly zone during royal stays to prevent drone photography. The island’s connection to the royal family predates the couple: Princess Margaret owned a villa on Mustique, and the late Princess Margaret’s sister, Princess Margaret, received a plot of land as a wedding gift, where the residence Les Jolies‑Eaux was built by designer Oliver Messel. The island also hosts other British celebrities, such as Mick Jagger, who owns a home there.
