Prince William announces Earthshot Prize environmental finalists

Prince William has announced the 15 finalists for the 2026 Earthshot Prize, an environmental award established in 2020 to accelerate innovation in addressing climate change, pollution, and habitat loss. Winners in five categories will each receive 1 million pounds ($1.34 million) along with support to expand their initiatives.

Among the finalists is the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative, which works with governments and Indigenous communities to maintain wildlife migration routes through the Rocky Mountains by constructing overpasses and underpasses. Other nominees include an Argentine project utilizing artificial intelligence and satellite data to track wildfires in Latin America, the Zero Emission Maritime Buyers Alliance focused on reducing shipping emissions, and offshore wind developer Orsted.

The winners are scheduled to be announced on November 17 during a televised ceremony in Mumbai.
