Prince William honored with crocodile namesake by Robert Irwin

Conservationist Robert Irwin has named a 12-foot saltwater crocodile after Prince William to honor the Prince of Wales’s commitment to environmental protection. The gesture recognizes the Prince’s work through the Earthshot Prize, for which Irwin serves as an ambassador.

The crocodile is the 300th animal to be tagged as part of a groundbreaking research project at the Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve in Queensland, Australia. This milestone marks a significant achievement for the scientific study, which aims to collect data over the next decade regarding dietary habits, diving capabilities, and the effects of climate change on the reptile’s body temperature.
