Prince William knights rugby legend Kevin Sinfield

Prince William presented rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield with a knighthood at Windsor Castle, recognizing his significant contributions to rugby and his extensive fundraising efforts for the motor neurone disease (MND) community.

Speaking to BBC Breakfast, the Prince of Wales praised Sinfield’s humility and leadership, stating, “I think, frankly, he should have been Sir Kevin years ago.” He described Sinfield as a “good, honest, kind, decent northerner” who lacks ego and possesses a unique ability to unite people through his charitable work.

Sinfield’s fundraising campaigns, including demanding ultramarathon challenges, were inspired by his former Leeds Rhinos teammate Rob Burrow, who passed away in 2024 after battling MND. Sinfield expressed that he was “massively humbled” by the honor and accepted it on behalf of the MND community and their families.
