Prince William renounces rental income to fund community projects

Prince William is implementing changes to his financial management and public role as he prepares for his future role as monarch. Following the recent public disclosure of tax payments for King Charles III and the Prince of Wales, William has expressed intentions to restructure the Duchy of Cornwall, including the potential sale of up to 20% of its assets to promote transparency and modernization.

During a visit to Princetown in Devon, William announced he would renounce rental income from the former Princetown prison, which closed in 2024 due to radon concerns. This decision redirects approximately £1.9 million (roughly €2.2 million) toward local community needs. Additionally, he pledged at least £250,000 to support social, economic, and environmental projects through the newly launched Princetown Community Fund.

These financial shifts occur amid ongoing scrutiny regarding the stability of the monarchy and the impact of Prince Harry’s departure from royal duties, which continues to influence the public image and institutional dynamics of the British Royal Family.
