Prince William speaks with Canadian PM Mark Carney

Prince William held a telephone conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Monday to discuss the bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and Canada.

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace stated that the heir to the British throne and Canada’s head of government discussed the ‘enduring strength’ of the relationship between the two nations. During the call, William expressed his ‘long-standing affection for Canada and its people.’

This marks the first known contact between the Prince of Wales and Carney since the latter assumed the leadership of the Liberal Party and became Prime Minister in March 2025. The conversation follows recent royal activity in North America, including King Charles III’s visit to Canada in May 2025.
