Prince William launches Princetown Community Fund
Prince William, the Duke of Cornwall, is visiting the village of Princetown to launch the Princetown Community Fund. The initiative aims to provide at least £250,000 to support local social, economic, and environmental projects.
The funding is sourced from the £1.5 million annual rent the Duchy of Cornwall receives from the Ministry of Justice for the Dartmoor Prison site. Prince William has opted to redirect this income toward local regeneration rather than retaining it personally, acknowledging the impact of the prison's closure on the community.
His scheduled visit to the moorland village coincides with the 42nd birthday of Prince Harry on September 15. While the Prince of Wales will be attending community meetings and visiting a local youth club, the timing has drawn media attention due to the ongoing estrangement between the two brothers.
