Prince William's wealth tops King Charles as royal tax disclosures rise
Prince William, heir to the British throne, now has a net worth of about $1.6 billion, surpassing his father King Charles III whose wealth is estimated at £846 million. The increase stems mainly from the Duchy of Cornwall, which generated a private income of £28.5 million in the 2025‑26 fiscal year and on which William paid more than £26 million in tax.
King Charles became the first British monarch to publicly disclose his tax contributions, revealing a payment of £12.9 million for 2024‑25. In the same period, Prince William disclosed £7.76 million in taxes. Both figures place the senior royals among the UK’s top private taxpayers.
William has announced plans to sell about 20 % of the Duchy, directing roughly $670 million toward housing development and environmental projects. Separately, the Sovereign Grant is set to rise to £99.9 million for the 2027‑28 financial year.
