Princesa de Asturias Foundation warns of award ceremony invitation scams

The Princesa de Asturias Foundation has issued an urgent warning regarding a new wave of identity theft involving fraudulent invitations to its annual awards ceremony and related events attended by the Spanish Royal Family.

Scammers are reportedly targeting former attendees via WhatsApp and email, using formal language to mimic official communications. The fraud involves offering fake ‘institutional hospitality’ and premium seating near the Royal Family in exchange for money. The Foundation emphasized that all attendance is completely free and that no official or private institution sends invitations on its behalf.

Authorities were previously notified of similar attempts in July. The Foundation advised citizens to exercise extreme caution, noting that scammers may also request scanned official documents to steal sensitive information. Any suspicious communications should be reported to the Foundation via their official email address.
