Vermeer’s ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’ arrives in Osaka for rare exhibition
Johannes Vermeer’s masterpiece, ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’, is currently on display at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka, Japan. This marks the fourth time the painting has been loaned to Japan, the first time in 14 years. The loan from the Mauritshuis museum in The Hague was made possible due to ongoing renovations at the Dutch institution.
Princess Aiko of Japan attended the exhibition opening, where she viewed the portrait and met with a Dutch delegation. The exhibition features 12 works from the Mauritshuis collection, including pieces by Rembrandt and Frans Hals.
To coincide with the exhibition, the Regal Royal Hotel Osaka has launched a collaborative menu inspired by the themes of light, blue, and pearls. Additionally, the museum has introduced special merchandise, including collaborations with Miffy and the manga series ‘Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’. The exhibition is scheduled to run until September 27.
