Princess Amalia begins military service with Royal Netherlands Navy

Princess Amalia of the Netherlands has begun a new role as a military working student with the Royal Netherlands Navy. This move marks her latest stage within the Defensity College program, which allows students to gain practical military experience alongside their academic studies.

The 22-year-old princess is currently balancing her law studies at the University of Amsterdam with her military training, aiming to qualify as a military reservist. Her recent activities included operating a FRISC fast patrol boat and completing advanced field training in August.

This assignment follows her previous placements with the Defense Staff and the Royal Netherlands Air Force, where she focused on personnel planning and reserve distribution. The Defensity College initiative seeks to strengthen the connection between the armed forces and society by increasing the visibility of military service.
