Princess Amalia begins new placement with Royal Netherlands Navy

Princess Amalia of the Netherlands, the 22-year-old heir to the throne, has begun a new placement as a working student with the Royal Netherlands Navy. This move is part of her participation in the Defense College program, which allows her to gain practical experience within the armed forces while pursuing her law studies at the University of Amsterdam.

During her first day, the Princess was received by Harold Liebregs, the Commander of the Naval Forces, in Den Helder. Her activities included spending time aboard a FRISC fast patrol boat. This naval assignment follows previous placements with the Defense Staff and the Royal Netherlands Air Force, as well as the completion of general military training in the field this past August.

The program aims to train participants as military reservists, enabling them to support the armed forces and participate in exercises when required. The Defense College is designed to provide students with meaningful professional roles while increasing the visibility of the military and its connection to society.
