Princess Anne commemorates fallen soldiers at Guards Memorial rededication

Princess Anne, serving as Senior Colonel of the Household Division, led a ceremony at the Horse Guards Parade in London to mark the 100th anniversary of the Guards Memorial. The event, held on October 16, 2026, commemorated members of the Foot Guards who lost their lives during the First World War.

During the proceedings, the Princess Royal inspected the horses and spoke with riders of the Household Cavalry before delivering an address. She emphasized the responsibility of each generation to preserve the memory of those who sacrificed their lives in service to the country, stating, “As we gather here a century later, our foremost purpose remains to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.”

The rededication included a parade, military music, and a royal salute, reflecting the historic nature of the original memorial unveiling in 1926.
