Princess Beatrice's 2020 Secret Wedding Highlights Historic Tiara

Princess Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli‑Mozzi on 17 July 2020 in a discreet ceremony at Windsor’s St James’s Chapel, attended only by close family including Queen Elizabeth II. The wedding, the first private royal marriage in 235 years, was held after UK Covid‑19 restrictions were lifted.

The bride wore a vintage silk dress originally owned by Queen Elizabeth II, altered by designers Angela Kelly and Stewart Parvin. She also wore a historic diamond tiara that began as a necklace worn by Queen Victoria, was transformed into a tiara by Garrard & Co. in 1919, and had previously been worn by Elizabeth II at her 1947 wedding. The tiara, often described as the Queen Mary Fringe Tiara, was loaned from the royal collection for the occasion.

The ceremony featured a young page‑boy, Christopher Woolf, Beatrice’s half‑brother, who became the youngest royal page at a wedding. The event was filmed and later shared, showcasing the continuity of royal traditions despite pandemic constraints.
