Princess Cruises unveils 2028 Alaska sailings and celebrates 25 years of Juneau shore power

Princess Cruises announced its 2028 Alaska season, featuring more than 185 departures across eight ships—including the new Star Princess and Discovery Princess—and 14 itineraries that combine cruise days with land tours, rail journeys and stays at Princess‑owned lodges in places such as Denali National Park. Departures will be available from Seattle, Vancouver, Anchorage, San Francisco and Los Angeles, with voyages ranging from four to 16 days.

The cruise line also marked the 25th anniversary of its pioneering shore‑power connection in Juneau, which allows ships to plug into the city’s hydroelectric grid and shut down engines while docked. Since 2001, Princess has made 1,725 shore‑power connections, used over 123 million kWh of clean electricity and avoided more than 84,500 metric tons of emissions, while contributing $11.2 million in community partnership credits. The partnership with the City and Borough of Juneau and Alaska Electric Light & Power is cited as a model that has helped expand shore‑power technology to 41 ports worldwide.
