Princess Diana Memorial Fountain closed due to technical failures
The Princess Diana Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park will remain closed for several weeks due to a serious technical defect. The charity organization Royal Parks announced that the fountain has been unable to flow water during a period of extreme summer heat.
The current issue began with a mechanical failure in the pump used to draw water from a local borehole. Although the mechanical problem was addressed, a subsequent software error has prevented the restoration of water flow.
This incident is the latest in a long history of complications surrounding the monument. Since its announcement by Tony Blair in 1999 and its inauguration by Queen Elizabeth II in 2004, the site has been marked by budget overruns, legal disputes, and various maintenance failures.
