Princess Diana named greatest female style icon in new poll
A recent public opinion poll conducted by the clothing brand Cotton Traders has named the late Princess Diana the greatest female style icon of all time. Surveying 2,000 people, the study found that Diana outperformed other legendary figures such as Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, maintaining significant influence even among Generation Z.
While Marilyn Monroe’s white halter dress remains a top historical fashion reference, Diana’s influence remains a primary benchmark for modern fashion. The poll also noted that nearly 31% of respondents have attempted to emulate the style of a fashion icon, and approximately 90% believe celebrities from previous generations were more stylish than those today.
In addition to her fashion legacy, details regarding her 1981 wedding have resurfaced. Although her lace and pearl-encrusted gown by David and Elizabeth Emanuel was viewed as a fairy tale by millions, Diana reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with her wedding hairstyle. Her former hairdresser, Richard Dalton, noted that she wished her hair had been done differently, specifically regarding the voluminous, layered style characteristic of the 1980s.
