Princess Eugenie gives birth to third child, a baby girl, in Lisbon, Portugal

Princess Eugenie of York and her husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed a baby girl on Monday, 3 August 2026 at a private hospital in Lisbon, Portugal. The newborn weighed 6 lb 9 oz (2.9 kg) and is the couple’s third child. Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles III, Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family were delighted by the news.

The baby takes the 15th place in the line of succession to the British throne, moving Prince Edward down to 16th. She is only the third member of the British royal family born abroad in more than a century, joining Princess Lilibet (born in California in 2021) and Maud Windsor (born in Los Angeles in 2013). The choice of Portugal reflects the family’s split residence between the United Kingdom and the Algarve region, where Brooksbank works on the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club development. The location offers greater privacy for the family while not affecting the child’s succession rights.
