Princess Eugenie reveals name of newborn daughter Adelaide
Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, have revealed the name of their newborn daughter, Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. The baby was born on August 3, 2026, in Lisbon, Portugal.
The name carries significant personal and historical meaning. Eugenie explained that the name honors three people they admire, including her great-grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II. The name Adelaide draws connections to both English and Portuguese history, referencing Queen Adelaide, consort of King William IV, and Maria Adelaide of Portugal. The couple, who split much of their time between the United Kingdom and Portugal, noted that the name reflects the two places they consider home.
Adelaide is the couple's third child, following their sons August Philip Hawke, 5, and Ernest George Ronnie, 3. In the British line of succession, the newborn holds the 15th position. Due to royal protocols regarding titles, she is expected to be known as Miss Brooksbank rather than receiving a princely title.
