Princess Ingrid Alexandra returns to Norway after World Cup trip, visits children and honors mother

Princess Ingrid Alexandra and her brother Prince Sverre Magnus attended Norway’s 3‑2 victory over Senegal at the FIFA World Cup in the United States, watching the national team and Erling Haaland on the sidelines. After the tournament they flew back to Norway.

On Thursday the princess arrived at the Hudøy holiday colony near Tjøme, meeting about 420 children – the first royal visit to the site since Queen Sonja in 2003. The children wore Norwegian jerseys, and the princess interacted with them, expressing enthusiasm for football and the upcoming matches.

The visit also highlighted the royal family’s support for Crown Princess Mette‑Marit, who is recovering from a lung transplant. During the World Cup match the princess wore a red jacket borrowed from her mother as a tribute, and she has paused her studies to be with her family during the recovery period.
