Princess Ingrid Alexandra Returns to Oslo University to Continue Studies

Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway, the heir apparent, has resumed her university education in Oslo after leaving the University of Sydney. The move follows her mother Crown Princess Mette‑Marit’s successful lung transplant and a period of family‑focused recovery. The Royal House announced that the 22‑year‑old will enroll as an exchange student at the University of Oslo’s Faculty of Social Sciences, beginning the autumn semester on 10 August 2026. She will be welcomed by rector Ragnhild Hennum, dean Anne Julie Semb and student‑parliament president Anna Bergum Furset, and will have no official royal duties during her studies. Crown Prince Haakon confirmed that the princess may serve as a royal substitute if required, underscoring her continued role in the constitutional monarchy while prioritising her education and family responsibilities.
