Princess Kate calls for better cancer support after sharing recovery journey
Princess Kate, the Princess of Wales, announced in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with cancer after a planned stomach operation earlier that year. She underwent chemotherapy and, in a new Instagram video, confirmed she has completed treatment. In the post she described how cancer "affects not just the body but how you think and feel" and urged a holistic approach to patient care.
She highlighted the Royal Marsden Hospital for its role in her treatment and announced she will take part in the National Three Peaks Challenge – climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours – to raise awareness of the wider impact of serious illness. Kate also called on health services to provide more personalized support for patients during and after treatment.
The princess's message was supported by Prince William, who has stood by her throughout the illness, and she was shown with their three children, Princess Charlotte, Prince George and Prince Louis.
