Princess Kate comforts mother completing breast cancer treatment at Manchester hospital

Princess Kate, the Princess of Wales, visited the Christie NHS Foundation Trust cancer centre in Manchester. During the visit she embraced 30‑year‑old mother Claire Lorente as the patient rang the oncology bell to mark the end of her breast‑cancer treatment. Kate, who herself underwent cancer treatment, told Lorente “Bravissima, bravissima. Che percorso. Sei stata straordinaria,” and added, “So che è altrettanto duro per i familiari e le persone care.”

The royal toured several wards, speaking with other patients and staff about the physical and emotional challenges of cancer. Her presence generated a strong response on social media, with many praising her empathy and personal connection to the disease.
