Linda Nosková clinches Wimbledon women's singles title
Twenty‑one‑year‑old Czech Linda Nosková won her first Grand Slam by defeating fellow Czech Karolina Muchová 6‑2, 5‑7, 6‑3 in an all‑Czech women’s final at Wimbledon 2026. The victory made Nosková the third Czech woman to lift the Venus Rosewater Dish in four years and moved her to world No. 7. She dedicated the triumph to her late mother Ivana, who died in 2024, saying the win was “mainly for her”. After the match Princess Kate, the patron of the All England Club, presented the trophy and posed with Nosková, Martina Navrátilová, Petra Kvitová and other Czech tennis legends in the Royal Box alongside celebrities such as Jodie Foster and Lily Collins. Muchová, who saved five championship points in the second set before falling short, expressed disappointment but remained motivated to pursue her first Grand Slam. Nosková’s post‑match comments emphasized humility and the desire to build on the win, while she celebrated with teammates, family and Czech officials who praised the historic showdown.
