Princess Kiko of Akishino meets researcher mothers, shares child‑rearing tips
Princess Kiko of Akishino attended an exchange meeting in Tokyo with young researchers who had taken parental leave and returned to academia. The event was organized by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and included participants of its RPD support scheme, which provides assistance for researchers resuming work after childbirth or childcare.
During the session the researchers presented their work and discussed challenges of balancing research and parenting. Princess Kiko listened attentively and, when asked about ways to relax while raising children, advised playing upbeat music in the morning to wake the children and start the day cheerfully.
