Princess Lalla Aïssa Alaoui and First Lady Janet Kagame launch hearing program in Rwanda

Princess Lalla Aïssa Alaoui, President of the Lalla Aïssa Foundation, and Rwandan First Lady Janet Kagame have launched the fifth phase of the ‘United, We Hear Better’ program in Kigali. This initiative marks Rwanda as the 23rd country to join the program, which operates across Africa, the Middle East, North Africa, and Latin America, having already assisted approximately 500 patients.

During the visit to the Rwanda Military Referral and Teaching Hospital, the leaders inaugurated the country’s first hearing diagnosis and rehabilitation center. The facility, donated and equipped by the Lalla Aïssa Foundation, provides comprehensive services ranging from initial screening to rehabilitation, staffed by specialists in ENT, audiology, speech therapy, and psychology.

A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Lalla Aïssa Foundation and the Imbuto Foundation to strengthen medical-humanitarian cooperation and expertise sharing between Morocco and Rwanda. The partnership aims to enhance support for childhood development, following the Moroccan model of supporting hearing-impaired individuals from neonatal screening through to labor market integration.
