Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia attend Girona awards and visit Empúries

On 8 July 2026 Infanta Sofía delivered her first official speech in Zaragoza, flanked by King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia and her sister Princess Leonor. The event, part of the Fundación Ibercaja "Docentes Referentes" awards, featured a choir performance and a public gesture of pride from Queen Letizia.

A week later, on 14‑15 July 2026 the two sisters were the main guests at the Princess of Girona Awards held at Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu. The ceremony highlighted young talent and collective effort. After the awards they toured the archaeological site of Empúries, the only Iberian location where Greek and Roman ruins coexist, meeting young archaeologists and learning about the centuries‑old history of the settlement.
