Princess Leonor finishes three-year military training, video released by Spanish royals

The Spanish Royal Household posted a video on Instagram, X and YouTube that chronicles Princess Leonor’s three‑year military education. It follows her from the Academia General Militar in Zaragoza, where she began in August 2023, to the Escuela Naval Militar in Marín, showing sail‑training aboard the training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano, and finally to the Academia General del Aire y del Espacio in San Javier, where she completed flight instruction.

The footage includes marches, tactical drills, shooting practice, sailing manoeuvres, and aerial training, as well as scenes with her sister Sofia. Accompanying the video, the Casa del Rey stated that “throughout this period the Princess has made her own the values that define the Armed Forces: honor, courage, discipline and loyalty.” The completion of her training precedes the planned issuance of her military commissions in July 2027.

The release marks the end of the formal phase of her preparation for future ceremonial and constitutional roles within Spain’s armed forces.
