Princess Leonor begins Political Science studies at Universidad Carlos III
Princess Leonor of Asturias has officially begun her university studies at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) at the Getafe campus. Following years of military training in Zaragoza, Marín, and San Javier, the heir to the Spanish throne is now enrolled in a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
The university administration has emphasized a desire for “normalidad” (normality), aiming to integrate the Princess as a regular student among her peers. While she will follow the same curriculum as her classmates—covering subjects such as Law, Economics, Sociology, and International Relations—the institution has implemented a rigorous security plan to manage her presence on campus.
Leonor’s academic path is designed to complement her military instruction, providing the legal, institutional, and diplomatic tools necessary for her future role. Her first days include introductory courses and academic orientations, marking a transition from a closed military environment to a public, heterogeneous academic setting.
