Princess Leonor travels solo to New York for World Cup final

Princess Leonor of Spain flew alone on a Falcon jet, accompanied by her protocol and security team, to attend the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium. Her flight departed from Torrejón Air Base, made a technical refuelling stop in the Azores, and arrived later than the royal party traveling with King Felipe VI.

King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia and Infanta Sofía travelled together on an official Airbus that flew directly to New York. The separation of aircraft follows the royal "principle of continuity" security protocol, ensuring the monarch and heir do not share the same transport in case of an incident. The trip also marks Leonor's first solo official journey, symbolising her emerging independent role as heir to the Spanish throne.
