Princess of Wales Catherine champions children’s hospices during Hospice Week

Catherine, Princess of Wales, issued a heartfelt letter to mark Children’s Hospice Week 2026, praising the "extraordinary" care provided by children’s hospices for seriously ill children and their families. In the statement she highlighted the joyful, nurturing environments of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and Tŷ Hafan in South Wales, where she serves as patron, and urged the public to recognise and support the sector’s life‑changing impact.

The Princess emphasized that hospices protect vital connections – between children and families, families and communities, and staff and those they care for – and help break down barriers such as the fear that seeking help means giving up hope. She called for greater awareness, donations and fundraising to sustain the holistic care that enables children to experience joy, belonging and freedom even in “challenging circumstances”.
