Princess of Wales donates Catherine's Rose to memorial gardens

The Princess of Wales has quietly donated a rose named after her, ‘Catherine’s Rose’, to the Aberfan Memorial Garden. A commemorative plaque at the site marks the gift, which was made in October 2025.

The Royal Horticultural Society named the floribunda, bred by Harkness Roses, to celebrate the healing power of nature and promote mental and physical wellbeing. This initiative follows the Princess's own experience finding sanctuary in nature during her chemotherapy treatment in 2024.

Proceeds from the sale of Catherine’s Rose support the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. In addition to the Aberfan donation, the Princess has supported similar projects across the United Kingdom, including a recent donation to the mother and baby unit at HMP Styal in Cheshire.
