Princess of Wales resumes duties with early‑childhood tour in Italy

Princess Catherine, the Princess of Wales, made her first overseas royal engagement since announcing her cancer diagnosis and completing chemotherapy. She spent two days in Reggio Emilia, northern Italy, to advance the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood’s work, visiting a local preschool and a creative resource centre that support early‑child development.

During the visit she was welcomed by the mayor and received the city’s highest honour. Observers described the trip as a “clear signal she is back in business,” and she told Italian media, “I’ve come to Italy to help mums like me.” The tour follows King Charles’s own cancer treatment and recent scrutiny of the royal family.

The visit highlights the monarchy’s focus on early childhood issues and marks the Princess’s re‑entry into public duties after a period of treatment and remission.
