Princess of Wales uses symbolic fashion during UK visits
The Princess of Wales has utilized fashion and hairstyling as tools of diplomatic expression during recent engagements in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
During a visit to the Isle of Bute in Scotland, where she and Prince William hold the titles of Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, the Princess opted for practical footwear. While participating in community activities, including a beach cleanup at Ettrick Bay and visiting the Bute Shinty Club, she wore chocolate brown suede Chelsea boots. Stylists have noted the footwear bears a strong resemblance to styles from the British brand Boden.
In a separate visit to Belfast, Northern Ireland, the Princess incorporated cultural symbolism into her appearance. To honor local heritage, she wore her hair in a Celtic knot, a style described by stylists as a gesture representing loyalty and unity. This choice complemented her role as Colonel of the Irish Guards and her sartorial selection of an ivory blouse and green checked skirt.
